Can I apply to both General Named Endowed Scholarship & UM Dollars for Scholars?

Yes, but you can only receive one award from UMHEF per year. If you apply for both, we will award you with the higher award. We want you to get the most support available! If it is determined that the General Named Endowed Program would offer you more scholarship than the UM Dollars for Scholars Program, we will return the $1,000 church check to the church.

What happens if I end up going to a school that does not participate in the UM Dollars for Scholars program?

Fri, 08/15/2014 - 02:24 -- skip

If the school you choose to attend is a United Methodist-related school but does not participates in the UM Dollars for Scholars program, then you may still be awarded $2,000 (the portion contributed by your church and matched by UMHEF). If you choose to attend a school that is not UM-related, then you will forfeit the scholarship and the $1,000 check from your church will be returned to the church.

When is the application deadline?

Thu, 05/30/2013 - 10:46 -- skip

It depends on the individual scholarship and school type, but applications for most of our scholarships must be submitted by March 1 each year. (Note: You must re-apply for a scholarship each year to be awarded for a new school year.) Additionally, you should typically be notified of a final outcome by May 1 via postal mail.
