Kendall Stocke
Foundation Merit Scholar
Kentucky Wesleyan College

"I am so excited and grateful to learn that I have been chosen to receive a Foundation Merit Scholarship for this academic year and want to take this opportunity to express my thanks to you and to the members of the Board of Trustees. Please know that I consider it a great honor to receive such a generous award.
I am a junior at Kentucky Wesleyan College, majoring in biology and chemistry as a premed student. My goal of becoming a pathologist will require quite a few more years of schooling and a tremendous amount of money for tuition, housing, and books. My mother is a single parent, and with two older brothers, it has been necessary that each of us provide the majority of our college funding for ourselves.
This scholarship will help provide that financial aid and will allow me to focus a little more of my energy on achieving all of my educational goals, including a high level of involvement with KWC's campus ministry organizations. One of the highlights of my academic journey has been to play the guitar for weekly campus worship services and to serve as the worship leader for C.R.O.S.S. I have also taken the steps necessary to begin helping as a weekly volunteer at our local hospital and will continue serving my college community in that way throughout the remainder of this school year.
Organizations like the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation provide so many additional opportunities for students such as me to succeed academically while also developing our talent to lead and to serve. I consider it a great privilege to represent it as the recipient of this scholarship and will certainly keep you updated on my progress throughout the year.
